Episode #18: För - Finding Home in the Far North

A conversation with Agnieszka Sosnowska about photography, moving to Iceland, and documenting the place we live in

The last thing I imagined when I started writing Project Home was sitting down with photographers I admire. But here we are.

This project began as a way to explore what home means across different places and cultures, using photography as the main medium to support the storytelling. And when I saw För in my local photobook store, I instantly felt this book was more than a collection of images. It was a whole and unique world, it challenged the idea that home is a location.

För by Agnieszka Sosnowaska (2024)

If you’re not familiar, I highly recommend you to follow and check her work here.

Iceland is often shown as a place of epic landscapes, untouched nature, remote locations, and almost uninhabited. But Agnieszka’s work is the opposite. Her images are raw, intimate, and full of life. They introduce us to the people who have built their lives there, in extreme weather, in close-knit communities. It’s a side of Iceland most of us have never seen.

Thanks for reading Project Home! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work.

In this short interview, we talk about her journey, and most of all, we talk about home and belonging.

Make sure to follow Agnieszka, spread the word about this newsletter, and give feedback for future releases. More photos at the bottom!
